Do you prefer long or short anime series?
When I was in a local anime club, most of them like shorter series of no more than 30 episodes, something like Trigun, only 26 episodes. I like those very much, Vash is my hero haha, but I also like super long ones that go on for many years with hundreds of episodes. Inu Yasha, Naruto, Saint Seiya, Ranma 1/2, Dragon ballz, etc.

RE: Do you prefer long or short anime series?
Depends entirely on how interesting the series and its characters can be, or at least if it can overall keep my attention for good reasons. Outlaw Star (duh) and DBZ -- the latter having over 10x as many episodes as the former in its original run -- are probably the best examples (in my case) of length not really being an important factor when it comes to what anime I'll watch. They kept my interest, so I kept watching.

"It turned out that the ghost was just Mr. Finley, who ran the amusement park. The spooky part is that, as soon as the ghost appeared, the teenagers' dog began to speak! And it spoke in a tortured parody of human speech: 'relp me, Raggy,' it would say. 'I am an abomination and rould re rilled. Rill re, Raggy.'"

RE: Do you prefer long or short anime series?
I for the most part enjoy shorter series more. They end up having a good and solid story so interest stays intact throughout the 12-26 episodes. There are less fillers for sure. And I personally don't like being stuck on one show for too long. When I watch a series I want to try and be able to finish it in at-least 3 days. One of the few exceptions I made for a longer series and did enjoy was soul eater being 51 episodes. I gave bleach, naruto, and one piece a try for a little bit and while I did enjoy them there were simply to many episodes for me to keep up with. Same with inuyasha and cased closed. So I can't say I like them equally. I prefer shorter series more.

RE: Do you prefer long or short anime series?
Dragon Ball Z would be my favorite anime of all time, and that was 291 episodes. Outlaw Star, which I also thoroughly enjoy, is also one of my favorites. So like everyone has said, if the series is engrossing enough, whether long or short, it doesn't really matter.

Check out and "like" my Outlaw Star Facebook Pages! Thanks!

I think Dragonball z went down hill after the Cell fight, but it is just my personal opinion.

In Dragon Ball, it was a lot more fun. In Z, it was all about fighting with much less funny stuff. It was still fine, but Buu was just too much lol. I didn't really like Buu Saga at all.

I think it all started going downhill after Frieza; you can tell that Toriyama was clutching at straws for ideas regarding new villains and whatnot when he came up with Androids, based on a grudge held by some old man in the RR (from all the way back in DB). Cell himself was a good character and would have been fine as a stand-alone enemy, but the whole Android thing... gagh. Senseless. I could go into one over this but it's not the place.

But Goku was still a child-like clown! I'll admit that by this point I was pretty much watching it out of a morbid curiosity, as opposed to being genuinely fascinated by this bizarre universe of flying aliens that bust planets on a whim. The whole Buu thing was a something of joke saga really; it was still entertaining, but utterly ludicrous and seemingly written out of some sort of obligation to the fans rather than from a personal desire.

RE: Do you prefer long or short anime series?
I like all anime, but if i had to choose, i would prefer short anime. There's not a lot of filler to detract from the story in it, compared to an anime like dbz. when i watch a longer anime, i'll tend to watch it in arcs, then take a break for it. YYH, for example, i watched up until maze castle, then took a break, then came back and watched the dark tournament.

Namek saga is definitely one of the best. However, I also enjoyed android saga. Cell is fine too.

Yeah, I agree Buu Saga is a joke, even though it might be funny. It should have stopped after Cell. They are in the loop of having to create more and more powerful enemies. It didn't have to be that way in order to continue the story.
Anime series of DBZ has too many time wasting scenes lol. They tried hard to make each episode longer.
Even in the fight with Freiza, after Goku went super saiya, I remember the fight after that was fairly short in Manga before Freiza accidentally cut himself in half. The anime made it still a very long fight and it almost look like Freiza was giving super saiya Goku a lot of trouble at first before he ran out of energy.

RE: Do you prefer long or short anime series?
Back in my teenager years, I wouldn't mind watching certain anime with long-going episodes. However, I have the compulsion to watch every episode in sequential order to even consider it. So once I couldn't keep up, I basically said, "ARGH! F It, all these long series have tons of unnecessary filler anyway!"

So yeah, I'd rather not talk about something like Bleach. Which I found boring after 7 episodes anyways. D:
