Looking for the name of an anime

It was in the 1990s when I watched a few episodes of that anime on TV. I don't know what name it is.

The story background is in Japan, rather like modern day. But the society has reached a point where big human piloted robots walking around to do the job. Those robots are often 2~3 floors high, with a human controlling it from the inside. They have been a popular tool of the society in productivity, but it crime involved in the using of robots was also on the raise. So the police department organized two special units of robotic police force. Each unit has 2~3 large most advanced robots used against criminals in robots.

(They can't fly, just walk. Everything else seem to be based on current technology).

It wasn't long before a large company tried to sell their version of the most advanced robots by impressing their clients... they sent one of their latest robot making trouble on the street and attracted the police robot unit. Defeated the police robots quite easily which supposed to be the most advanced.

There was another episode of a village near a beach area used a robot pretend to be "sea monster" to attract tourists.

Anyway. Does anyone know the name of this anime? I thought the ending theme song was cool.

Sounds a lot like Patlabor to me I actually started watching this a few months back but I stalled about 5 episodes in. Its not a bad show or anything I just started to get distracted and haven't picked it back up yet.

I thought it was interesting over a decade ago, but I couldn't remember the name of the show so I couldn't even look for it until now.
After over a decade, I can finally finish watching the whole show thanks to you.

I would recommend it to anyone who is into robotics and police anime.
